The Bishop Perry Scholarship was established at Marquette University Law School
in 1998 by the St. Thomas More Lawyers Society to recognize the ordination of
Bishop Joseph N. Perry to the episcopacy and his service as chaplain to the
Society and as an adjunct professor of canon law at the Law School. Prior to
Bishop Perry’s Episcopal consecration in 1998, he served twenty-three years in
the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, including twelve as Judicial Vicar.
The Scholarship helps the Law School attract and retain a diverse student body.
In awarding the Scholarship, the Law School give preference to students that are
members of groups historically underrepresented in the legal profession.
