Bishop Donald Hying, Canonization of Two Popes, June 6, 2014

Our monthly First Friday Mass and Meeting is June 6, 2014.

Bishop Don Hying will speak to us about his experience in Rome for the canonization of Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII on April 27th.

Most Reverend Donald J. Hying was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee on May 20, 1989. On July 20, 2011, he was ordained the seventh auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Prior to being named auxiliary bishop, Bishop Hying served as rector of Saint Francis de Sales Seminary from 2007 to 2011. Bishop Hying served as temporary administrator at St. Augustine Parish, Milwaukee in 2006, then as dean of Formation at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, from 2005 to 2007. He was pastor at Our Lady of Good Hope Parish, Milwaukee from 1999 to 2005 and St. Anthony Parish, Milwaukee from 1998 to 1999. Bishop Hying also served as temporary administrator at St. Peter Parish, East Troy, 1998 and as a team member for La Sagrada Familia Parroquia, Dominican Republic from 1994 to 1997. His first priestly assignment was as associate pastor for St. Anthony Parish, Menomonee Falls from 1989 to 1994.

Bishop Hying is a native of West Allis, Wisconsin and is the youngest of six sons. After attending St. Aloysius and Immaculate Heart of Mary grade schools, he graduated from Brookfield Central High School and Marquette University. He earned his Masters of Divinity from Saint Francis de Sales Seminary, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree from the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. Bishop Hying is also the spiritual advisor for the Saint Vincent de Paul Society.

Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 A.M. in the Chapel of St. Edmund Campion, located on the 4th floor of Eckstein Hall (Marquette University Law School). Mass will be followed by our meeting and discussion from 8:00-9:00 A.M., which includes a continental breakfast (suggested donation $4.00). Parking is available in the Eckstein Hall underground parking structure. (Enter the lot, pull a ticket, and find an open parking space. Once parked, take the elevator to main floor, which opens to the foyer, and go to the welcome desk to get your parking ticket validated.)
