Steve Hasbrook 'Notre Dame School of Milwaukee' August 5th 2016

Our monthly First Friday Mass and Meeting is August 5th.

This month’s speaker is the President of Notre Dame School of Milwaukee, Steve Hasbrook. Notre Dame School of Milwaukee serves over 400 Latino students from Milwaukee's near south side. It is a Catholic, K-8, Spanish/English immersion school. Notre Dame also includes the only all-girl Catholic middle school in the area. Its students face significant socio-economic barriers in addition to the fact that Milwaukee has the largest racial achievement gap in the country. Despite these odds, 99% of its students graduate from high school (compared to the 63% Milwaukee Public Sschools rate) and 83% enroll in college. Celebrating the 20th anniversary this school year, Steve Hasbrook looks forward to sharing the story of Notre Dame School of Milwaukee and more about how its students are finding a way out of the vicious cycle of poverty.

Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 A.M. in the Chapel of St. Edmund Campion, located on the 4th floor of Eckstein Hall (Marquette University Law School). Mass will be followed by our meeting and discussion from 8:00-9:00 A.M., which includes a continental breakfast (suggested donation $4.00). Parking is available in the Eckstein Hall underground parking structure. (Enter the lot, pull a ticket, and find an open parking space. Once parked, take the elevator to main floor, which opens to the foyer, and go to the welcome desk to get your parking ticket validated.)
